Greetings from Oromia Police College

Oromia Police College is flourishing a head as higher academic institution to offer various trainings. It was founded as higher academic institution by regulation no. 129/2002 at Adama. Previously, it was uncommon to see many PhD scholars’ staff and very limited numbers of academic courses were offered by the college with hundred students. MA program students enrollment was not exist. Teaching materials for practical work like forensic materials and Administrative offices facilities were also not fulfilled. But nowadays, this College has made spectacular achievements with in short span of 14 years. The College has been reaching numerous mile stones in the past couple of years in line with academic and other related activities: there are many PhD scholars from OPC staff with in national and abroad universities.

Power and Duties of Director of Research and Counseling Service

The accountability of the Vice Chief Director of Academy of the College shall be to the Chief Director of the College and has the following power and duties:

  1. Plans, runs, organizes and controls the analysis, research, counseling and community service activities of Oromia Police College, 
  2. Assists and counsels the Chief Director, Vice Chief Director of academy, Vice Chief Directors, Director of Regular and Vocational Training Institute and departments of the College on the works of analysis, research and counseling service deliverance,
  3. Identifies inputs for delivering modernized police service by research,
  4. Causes the expansion of  researches that develop police profession knowledge and technological,
  5. Generates new institutional change analyses, policies, regulations and guidance that enable  Oromia Police College  continue and improvement thoughts, 
  6. Works and assists to make the collaborative works of educational and training of Oromia Police College with other institutions based on research and analysis,
  7. Evaluates, assists the guidance of quality standards educational and training processes periodically and presents ways of improvement,   
  8. Causes the foundations/results of researches presented to the concerning body and be implemented,  
  9. Identifies needs of research and analysis, prepares and presents the research proposal (TOR), looks for alternatives how the cost of the research proposal cover be covered, implements the approved results of the researches and analysis,
  10. Makes periodical evaluation on the needs and results of trainings and education,  
  11. Gives training on foundation or result of research of education and trainings by preparing seminar, workshop and symposium; participates on similar meetings prepared by other bodies,
  12. Encourages teachers of Oromia Police College to participate on research and investigation,
  13. Identifies institutions that use the counseling service, arranges a payment system for the request concerning the counseling service provided, makes investigation and causes decision on how the service is delivered and implemented, implements on approval,
  14. Announces the results and programs of researches and counseling service using different medias,
  15. Takes thoughts and corrections that improve and encourages research, analysis and counseling service, makes correctional measure, presents those need decision to the concerning body for decision,
  16. Prepares and presents the budget needed for research, analysis and counseling service, implement on approval,

10. Extends the systems of applying community service and works the activity of community service,

11. Extends systems that enable to develop the department, works the work of indoctrination in the members,

12. Requests for the fulfillment of inputs needed for the department, implements if fulfilled,

13. Implements the reforms that the government passes periodically,

14. Controls the units and subordinate members/workers, makes correction, takes discipline corrections,  

15. Evaluates his subordinate workers/members,

16. Evaluates the performance of the department, reports to the concerning body,

17. Implements additional works assigned by the higher body.
