Greetings from Oromia Police College

Oromia Police College is flourishing a head as higher academic institution to offer various trainings. It was founded as higher academic institution by regulation no. 129/2002 at Adama. Previously, it was uncommon to see many PhD scholars’ staff and very limited numbers of academic courses were offered by the college with hundred students. MA program students enrollment was not exist. Teaching materials for practical work like forensic materials and Administrative offices facilities were also not fulfilled. But nowadays, this College has made spectacular achievements with in short span of 14 years. The College has been reaching numerous mile stones in the past couple of years in line with academic and other related activities: there are many PhD scholars from OPC staff with in national and abroad universities.

Power and Duties of the College

The college shall have the following power and duties:

  1. Undertake research regarding the concept of police science, service delivery relating to cases of crime and different training needs,
  2. Disseminate the result of the research to customers, render advisory services as necessary,
  3. prepare criteria and submit to the board on approval select, admit and decides continuous assessment and graduation,
  4. prepare Police Science Educational and training curriculum and program, deliver degree, diploma, certificate program, basic police training, different police professionals and on job short trainings,
  5. provide materials necessary for training,
  6. Undertake analysis regarding the effectiveness of the training rendered by the college, submit the result to concerned body,
  7. undertake follow up and supervision regarding the ethics of trainees, take and cause to be taken corrective measures in case of violation of ethics,
  8. Deploy and follow up trainees for externship,
  9. Award different police rank and present for those who achieve better academic performance,
  10. Certify trainees who completed their training,
  11. Deliver technical and vocational educational training / TVET/,
  12. Collect and Organize documents relating to education and training of the region’s police and disseminate to the concerned bodies,
  13. Render different advisory services for region’s police found at different managerial position,
  14. Establish and implement strategies through which trainees, academic and administrative employees of the college supervised and evaluated,
  15. Prepare and implement different internal job guides and manuals that are important for the College,
  16. Prepare guides regarding the benefits of the communities of the College and submit to the Board,
  17. Award individuals who contribute a great role in the fulfillment of the mission of the College, 
  18. Recruit civil professionals required for police work and deploy them by offering them police training,
  19. Whenever necessary the College prepares education and training branches, Structures, departments and units that are required for its improvement and submit to the Board and implement on approval
  20. Make agreement and share experience with similar local and foreign educational institutions in order to modernize the system of delivery of education and training and  to improve the ability of officials and professionals,
  21. Sign agreement, sued, is sued and own property in its name
  22.  Prepare annual plan and budget of the College and submit to the Board,
  23.  Did other tasks that enable to fulfill the aim of the College and generate income for the College in line with its work habit.
